Keyscape

Hide explanation

A keyscape is a way of visualizing key signatures over the course of a song or piece (Sapp, 2005). In this demo you can either listen to a pre-prepared song and watch the visualization unfold, or you can play an on-screen piano keyboard and colour your own keyscape.

Coloured squares will appear when you press "Start". The colour of the square indicates the estimated key, according to the following diagram. If there are insufficient data to make an estimate, the square will appear light grey.

(This demo could still be improved with instrument-loading notifications/behavior and some remarks about the Zephyr Song, but it's getting there.)
